Too Much Rest?

This is a vacation week, but not a week full of planned activity.  It is a week of rest.  This rest on purpose thing is work...work to change, when I am not used to resting.

My Heavenly Father offers me the grace of His rest.  I acknowledge.  I accept...but I am not good at it.

The human world looks askance upon the human who is too good at human rest.  Restlessness is a religion.  The first thing that caught my attention, listening to Richard Swenson in a radio interview, on his book Margin. .  He said he always got at least nine hours of sleep each night.

In just that regard, he is a peculiar American.  I think I remember him saying, as well, that he had never paid more than five thousand dollars for a car.  Strange Cat.

So I think when I accept my Father's offer to be better at resting in Him than I am at anything else, I suspect I am going to be peculiar.

But that, after all, is how He describes His People.  So He sees the Rested Church.  Count me in.

Too Good at Resting in The Spirit.  Put it on my tombstone.  Though I will not have one.  That is another story all together.

Schweppes

This should be interesting. "What should I write about, Lord?" "Schweppes. Schweppervesence."

Okay. I'll bite.

Look at the sealed bottle of soda pop. Calm. No bubbles. Do something with it. Bubbles. Where do the bubbles come from? The Carbon Dioxide is dissolved in the liquid. It is dispersed. Change the conditions, and the dissolved CO2 comes out of solution and the molecules congregate into bubbles. When I can see the rising bubbles, I am aware of the presence of CO2 in the mix. Prior to the bubbles, the CO2 is integrated into the liquid and I have no manifestation of CO2. Sure, the label says that it is a carbonated, but I can not see any carbonation.

So my label says Christian. I know that Christ is so in me that I am saturated. But nobody can see the bubbles. Unless I live a life that manifests Christ. Unless I live a life that is stirred up. Father, Help me release your Spirit. Stirred. Never Shaken

Extreme

This is going to be extreme. I can already see that I am free enough to do things that surprise and shock me. This morning I called a false belief out. The cheese thing is radical. People are not saying, "that's not you." They are simply remarking about something that is remarkable.

How many times each day do people encounter the remarkable? Encounter something that breaks the stale cycle of the daily process? And how often is it love that they encounter.

This manifestation of the love of Christ is going to be remarkable. We are a peculiar people.

Father, You make all things new. Your Kingdom is advancing, and will rest upon you. And in Your Kingdom, we will find our rest as well. Thank you. Bring your rule here, now.
